Between 1773 and 1774 he bought the Heidbauernstelle from Jürgen Hinrich Becker and was from there on postman and customs holder. He was the heathman. Here was always celebrated carnival earlier. Dancing took place on the large plank. Next door in the annex was the "Creole Barn", in which the carters, who came from Mölln and wanted to go to Hamburg, spent the night.
It was customary to lease the musical waiting in office for every 10 years. The leaseholder was given the sole privilege to provide musical entertainment at all weddings, gild feasts and other public entertainments in the area. From 1771 to 1781 the "Trittauer musician" Frantz Hinrich Scharnberg tenants and had to pay 30 Reichstaler annually to the public treasury. He probably played together with his family. In Trittau there were a total of 5 Scharnbergs who were musicians.
After Trittauer official brewery ceased operations, it was leased to a private individual who, by paying an annual contribution to the local treasury, obtained the right to exclusively supply beer to the jugs of the office. But not all pitchers were under the beer compulsion; some were exempted by special old privileges. In the parish were these:
- the Bestmann inn in Trittau
- the Knaacksche in Witzhave and the
- Kätners Scharnberg on the Trittauer Heide.

He was called "The Rotkopp", was a farmer on the bell-cane yard. Even today you can see in some Scharnberg offspring a slightly reddish hair coloring. He had a total of 6 children, 5 of them alive at the time of his death.
He is said to have accompanied Napoleon on his campaign in Russia as the eldest son of the half-hounder Hans Claus Scharenberg. When he came back after 7 years absence, the parental farm was already farmed by his younger brother Johann Hinrich, as one had not expected his return. As a result, the younger brother Johann Hinrich had to give way and received as compensation the place bought in 1818 next to the dairy - "Scharnberg at the dam", while he took over his parents' farm.

According to oral tradition of the last Hörnbauern, Johann FRIEDRICH Hinrich Scharnberg, and JOHANN Heinrich Friedrich Scharnberg the farm behind the church (Hörnbauer Scharnberg) was bought in 1813 by Johann Rathje for his eldest son while he was a soldier in France.
After his return his son Friedrich was the first Hörnbauer to take over the job (contract folio 125 of 01.07.1820).

He was the 1st Scharnberg who moved from Trittau from the Bells pool farm to Hamburg and founded the Hamburg Scharnberg Line as a waiter and later as the owner of an inn in the ABC-strasse.
His best man was his brother Claus Hinrich HERMANN Scharnberg, also an innkeeper.

His wife Maria was married in 2nd marriage to the chimney sweeper August Wilhelm Schilling, who owned the house Böhmersweg 5 in Hamburg. Since the marriage remained childless, her children inherited the house.

After his wedding he took his father into his family and took care of him. From 1914 - January 1917 he was at the front (France) and was awarded the Iron Cross II for special bravery. The EK I, which he was to receive for another battle, claimed his sergeant for himself, who had not taken part in the fights at all. From February 1917 - April 1918 he was employed as a carpenter in his home country for war economic purposes.
His illness (larynx and tuberculosis) began in April 1918, in May 1919 he died of it.

On July 13, 2011, I was able to purchase the original Hinrich Bible. A Mr. Michelsen bought it at the flea market and rediscovered it in his attic. The Bible bears on the 1st page the handwritten entry: Hans Thomas Heinrich Scharnberg, born d. 4th October 1844. It has since been restored somewhat and now has its place in our family.

He was the last "Hörnbauer". The farm was situated east of the church, built on the 02.09.1727. On 11.02.1924 in the morning around 6.00 o'clock the neighbour house burned. The east wind carried the rain of sparks also fell on the house of the Hörnbauer, which also burned down. It wasn't rebuilt, though. The farmer moved instead to his Altenteilskate at the market place, today the road is called „At the market“. There stood over the big door:
J. F. Scharnbarg........Anno 1837. ........A. M. Scharnbags
(This means Rathje Scharnbergs son and his wife Anna Margaretha Scharnberg)
The marriage was childless, therefore the building went over to Witten afterwards, because Mrs. Witten was in position there. In the meantime, the building no longer exists, instead it stands at the place now a modern residential house.

He was called "Grotjohann". He had 11 children, but 4 died at the age of 1. After he had gone to the old part in 1895 and his wife had also died in 1912, he decided to write a diary about his life. From this diary many of the data from this time originate. Furthermore, it provides a very good description of the hard life my great-grandfather had to cope with at that time.

He emigrated to Brazil in 1868. In Alegrete he built mainly in Company with his brothers houses. In the winter of 1881/82 he was at the bridal show in Trittau, but drove home on his own and Maria did not come to Montevideo until 1883.
1895 they returned to Germany. In Trittau they built in the Bahnhofstraße 13 the „Villa Scharnberg“, approximately completed in Oct. 1899, and rented out of the summer several rooms to summer visitors from Hamburg. At the time of construction it was the last house Trittaus in the Bahnhofstrasse. After the death of her husband Maria sold the house to Pastor Jessen in 1912.

I met Paul Scharnberg about 1954 when I was 10 years old, when he was in Germany and together with his uncle Paul Kiesel visited our farm. I was fascinated by the fact that a relative of ours lived so far away in Ecuador, visited banana plantations in the jungle and traded bananas. This resulted in a pen friendship that lasted about 2 - 3 years and then fell asleep - unfortunately.
When I was a little bit more intensively occupied with genealogy about 55 years later, I tried to keep in touch with the children / grandchildren from Paul in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Finally I had kept a letter from Paul and knew with it the address of the Banana trading company. After several unsuccessful attempts, I finally had contact with his son, Paul Christian, in 2003. At that time he was working for the US military in the Gulf War and answered from Damascus airport shortly before his return home in the USA. Unfortunately he did not report back after his return to the USA. 9 years later, in 2012, his sister Gretel contacted me by mail. We stayed in contact and exchanged old documents, so that I finally could complete this branch of my family tree as well.

Around 1691/92 he bought the Bödnerstelle from the old Jürgen Reiß († 31.07.1699 Trittau at the age of 79 years). The cottage stood at the pharmacy (Rausdorfer Strasse, near the confluence with Kirchenstrassse (see The parish of Trittau in 1708)). It was also called the Spielmannskate.

It is known that at that time there were 2 Henrich Scharpenbargs in Trittau. Due to the fact that their names are the same, it is safe to assume that they did not come from the same family. The Henrich mentioned here was our ancestor, but whether he was really born in Grönwohld cannot be proven conclusively documentary at the moment. In this respect the other ancestors Hinrich and Hans mentioned here are speculative.

The Scharnbergs have been mentioned in Trittau since 1682. In the neighbouring village Grönwohld there were already before different Scharpenberg families. Not far away is Linau. There was located until 1349 the Robber knight castle of those of Scarpenberghe or Scharpenberg. After the castle had been dragged down, some of the descendants of the knights remained in the surrounding area. Especially in the Lauenburg area they showed up as owners of villages or goods again and again in documents. However, the delivered documents are not sufficient, to connect Henrich Scharpenbarg in Trittau to them.

On 02.04.1853 he bought the farm behind the church from Daniel Hinrich Scharnberg (21.07.1804 - 05.03.1875), the son of Johann Rathje Scharnberg. The house burned down in 1872 or 1873, together with the house of Kock.
After his death, the site was sold in parcels. Scharnberg at the dam e.g. bought the Hasenberg, which in the last 20 years has developed into a completely new settlement area.
